Postal Service Goes to Bat for Children
100th Anniversary of "Take Me Out To The Ball Game"
As organized youth baseball and softball wind down for the summer, the United States Postal Service is suggesting that parents and youngsters who play ball not retire their used gear but ship it instead to "Pitch In For Baseball" a non-profit organization that collects gently used equipment and distributes it to children in need.

"Yesterday, we celebrated the 100th anniversary of baseball's unofficial anthem by issuing the "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" stamp," said Postmaster General John Potter. "Today, we're helping Pitch In For Baseball deliver their message, let your equipment play extra innings, and are encouraging Americans to donate bats, balls, gloves and other equipment so that more children can enjoy the sport."

A Gove of Their Own
A book with a mission
Pitch In For Baseball is honored to join the team that has created the book and movement called A Glove of Their Own. This story is for and about children who have very little and play baseball for the love of the game. The mission mirrors what our organization is trying to do; ensure all kids have a glove of their own. The movement, created by coach and father, Bob Salomon, has transformed a story written by Debbie Moldovan, Keri Conkling, and Lisa Funari-Willever into a call-to-action. New Jersey publisher Franklin Mason Press will be donating large portions from A Glove of Their Own's profits to organizations that provide equipment to children. This project is the culmination of enormous generosity and good will and we are pleased to join the team. We encourage everyone to go to http://www.agloveoftheirown.com to reserve a copy of the book today! When you order your copy you will have the opportunity to select a charitable organization to benefit from the sale of the book. Scroll down and select PIF 129 and Pitch In For Baseball will receive $3.00 from the sale of the book.

Principal Financial Group Family Fun Fest
5th Anniversary
The Principal Financial Group Family Fun Fest, the country's first and most extensive traveling baseball festival in history, gives fans the opportunity to share the game of baseball with kids around the world through Pitch In For Baseball. "Playing baseball may not solve all of the world?s problems, but it can certainly help," states baseball superstar Reggie Jackson. "Every child should have a chance to experience all the great things about baseball, from learning about teamwork and sportsmanship, to the fun of being outdoors with friends and slugging your first home run. I hope baseball fans everywhere will join me in applauding the Principal Financial Group Family Fun Fest, Xbox 360 and Best Buy in supporting the efforts of Pitch In For Baseball." Anyone donating new or used equipment to the special collection tent at Fun Fest Tour Stops will receive valuable coupons from Xbox 360 and Best Buy, and an exclusive home team ticket offer.
